Right now we’re reading How to be Antiracist in the mastermind.
That’s because America has a racism problem. It’s systemic — which means it’s ingrained into the education system. Of course, it’s not limited to education but since that’s where we have influence, we will focus here.
This post is a curated podcast list of antiracist education conversations I’ve been having since 2015. I’m sure I forgot to include some, but this playlist a great place to start.
The playlist shares practical tools and will point you toward helpful resources that I’ve created or have come across.
I will share my story and journey because I believe we learn best from stories and maybe that will inspire you to do something similar within your community.
If you are silent about issues that matter, people will come up with their own story about why.
You are a leader.
Your work matters and your voice matters. Don’t let a fear of not getting it right or pissing some people off stop you from sharing.
The other problem with silence is that you sit from the sidelines. That form of inactivity is actually oppressive and helps a racist system continue.
I refuse to be silent and I encourage you to speak out as well.
An antiracist education podcast playlist
Over the years I have spoken to many amazing leaders. Below are some podcasts that would be good for you to (re)listen to, share with your peers in leadership, and share with your staff/community.

Jeremiah created the first charter school in Alabama and serves a population that has been given up on by traditional schools. It’s interesting that under Jeremiah’s care they find purpose and succeed.
